Following our first two posts, we continue our series on ‘green improvement’ grants and support provided by local authorities to landlords and tenants.
This post covers the next 20 local authorities – from Broxbourne to Ceredigion.
Broxbourne have joined with other districts to create a Hertfordshire Warmer Homes scheme that offers discounted or free home improvements that will reduce energy bills or the overall heating in a home. Information on the Hertfordshire Warmer Homes scheme can be found here.
Broxtowe has a page containing advice as well as information about the warm homes discount scheme and grants to help pay off any energy debts, which can be found here. That said, we can’t find any Council schemes.
Burnley borough council are part of the cosy homes in Lancashire scheme which offer energy-related improvements. In addition, the council also have a heating rebate scheme where they offer to replace an inefficient or broken down central heating system. Both schemes can be found here.
Bury have a page which details various different schemes and advice pages regarding energy improvements (including the now defunct green homes grant scheme), which can be found here.
Hinckley and Bosworth
Hinckley and Bosworth are offering financial assistance to those struggling to afford home improvements. These can be energy efficiency improvements. For eligibility and further information, click here
Reigate and Banstead
Reigate and Banstead offer small grants for urgent repairs or improvements which can be energy efficiency improvements. The page for this can be found here. Apart from that, we were unable to find any other active grants or loans.
An organisation called better housing and better health have combined with Local authorities in Buckinghamshire to create a number of grants and funding relating to home improvements which can be found here. South Bucks also has a page regarding tips and advice found here.
West Berkshire are offering heating and insulation grants for lower-income households within the area. Information about the heating and insulation grant can be found here.
Caerphilly offers funding for central heating systems, loft insulation and external wall insulation to tackle fuel poverty and the carbon crisis. Information on the funding can be found here. Caerphilly also have a page with advice as well as links to external funding, which can be found here
Calderdale offers an advice service, which does not directly offer any grants or funding, but speaking to the council directly here may bring out further information on funding that they offer. This page also offers advice.
Cambridge city has a page here which details all the various grants and funding available regarding home improvements and energy efficiency improvements.
Camden London borough
Camden has a helpline that will direct callers to various services and funding that may be available to them, which can be found here.
Cannock Chase offers funding for energy efficiency improvements for low-income households found here. There is also the Staffordshire Warm Homes fund which can be found here
Canterbury city council have a page detailing all the available grants and funding regarding energy efficiency as well as subsidies and funding for reducing energy bills. More information can be found here.
Cardiff City have a page detailing advice services, help with energy bills as well as information regarding funds and grants regarding energy improvements. More information can be found here.
This page here offers residents information on various grants including the energy efficiency grants which offers funding for insulation and heating upgrades.
Carmarthen council has an advice page as well as a page regarding a home improvement loan, which can be found here
While the Green Homes Grant has closed, there is a link at the bottom of the page here with links to expert advice about making your home more efficient. They may be able to provide people with information regarding funding and grants. However, apart from that, we were unable to find any more information regarding council funding.
A group called the Aran group have described local funding within Bedfordshire here, which show two different funds available. While one seems to be offered around Bedfordshire, the ECO grant funding is available within Bedfordshire. Bedfordshire on their council page asks that due to a constantly changing budgeting situation, people contact them direct to find out what funding is available. Further information can be found here.
Ceredigion council offer a number of schemes as well as an online contact form for advice relating to energy-efficient measures. More information can be found here
